January Observes Birds
National Bird Day brings awareness to the care and treatment of captive pet birds, as well as the exploitation of native birds in other countries. 

How well do you know the habits and needs of your domesticated pet bird?  Take time to research about what birds need in the wild to survive and see if you are providing that in your home.  Providing a proper habitat for your bird will encourage a healthy and happy pet bird.

Penguin Awareness Day celebrates the 17 different species of Penguins around the world;  only in the southern hemisphere. Penguins have wings and although they don’t fly, they use them for swimming under water. 

Bald Eagle Appreciation is dedicated to our national symbol.  We have Bald Eagles right here in Colorado and I had the pleasure of seeing one on Christmas Eve!  They are an incredible sight and interesting to learn facts about.  They have come back in numbers and were taken off the endangered species list in 2007!
